Tributes to David Bowie

*Before i present those tributes to David Bowie,i wanna give my personal tribute to this legend of half-century.My frist cognition of Bowie is 6 years ago,my anut brought me a DVD of David Bowie "Glass Spider" tour in Astrilia.therefore i actually do not who is David Bowie.I am amazed by the stage design and even amazed by Bowie stage expression,if let me label Bowie`s Performance on that tour, definitly is "Vivid Rock Spider".Since then,i started to konw more about Bowie.i would like to buy his CDs,and to watch his music video on Youtube.Frankly,to me i can understand more Bowie when watching his proformance than just listening to his CDs,(this i blame on my personal music awareness). The whole world must admit that Bowie is a true artist of performing.

*David Bowie`s retrospect of his Berlin Years-"Hauptstrasse"

Tim Plamper, Mimesis, 2013, Pigment Print on Museo Max Unique copy 75 x 51 cm Note: David Bowie's notorious "white diet"

*David Bowie lived in former West-Berlin at Hauptstrasse 155 in the borough Schöneberg is notorious. But the literal translation of the German street name Hauptstrasse means main road. David Bowie in mid-1976 was in many respects completely burned out. In Berlin he found his way back on the main road of his life, back to David Bowie. David Jones alias David Bowie alias Ziggy Stardust alias Thin White Duke had to escape a situation in life, that threatened to devour him – he needed tranquility and anonymity, the freedom to follow his intentions. This he found in the divided city. Hugo Wilcken wrote: "Berlin was an island, cut off from the world, but big enough to get lost in as well. Each layer of the Berlin myth seemed to reflect something in the Bowie persona – the Expressionist artists; the cabaret decadence; the Nazi megalomania; the cataclysmic destruction; the isolation behind the Wall; the Cold War depression; the ghosts who never depart. Above all, Berlin wasn't quite real." Or, as Bowie sings in Where Are We Now: "A man lost in time near KaDeWe…"

In Berlin Bowie recovered, and he succeeded to create something artistically valuable and of seminal impact: The Berlin Trilogy, the three albums Low, 'Heroes' and Lodger as well as the two Iggy-Pop-albums The Idiot and Lust for Life produced by Bowie still belong to the best Rock-records of all time.

With this exhibition the gallery attempt – with works of Abetz & Drescher, Claus Feldmann, Rainer Fetting, K. H. Hödicke, Ivar Kaasik, Wolfgang Neumann, Tim Plamper, Joachim Seinfeld and Snapple, with paintings, drawings, photography and some notes – to trace Bowie's time in Berlin, to approach the phenomenon Bowie, and to suggest the ambience of Berlin in the 1970s.

Claus Feldmann, Ground Control to Major Tom, 2013, Pigment-Print on Baryt on Alu-Dibond 96 x 59 cm, Edition of 3

Joachim Seinfeld, Chez Romy Haag (1974-1983) 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: Corner Fuggerstrasse/Welserstrasse was the famous nightclub of the transsexual Romy Haag with whom Bowie had a liaison. Today at this place is a gay sex-club called Connection.

Joachim Seinfeld, Hauptstrasse 155, 2013, C-Print 29,5 x 21 cm Note: Top right is the entrance to Bowie's 1976 - 1978 Berlin appartment at Hauptstrasse 155 in the borough Schöneberg

Joachim Seinfeld, Meistersaal, 2013, C-Print 21 x 29,5 cm Note: The famous "big hall by the Wall", former Studio 2 of the Hansa Studio. Here the recordings of David Bowie and Iggy Pop came into being.

Joachim Seinfeld, Paris Bar, 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: Today still as in Bowie's Berlin years. And still an institution in Berlin's cultural life – The Paris Bar on Kantstrasse in the borough Charlottenburg.

Joachim Seinfeld, Slumberland, 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: At this location, today Club-Bar Slumberland at the Winterfeldplatz, was the original Dschungel, a Club-Bar that Bowie and Iggy Pop visited frequently. At the beginning of 1978 the Dschungel moved to Nürnberger Strasse.

Joachim Seinfeld, SO 36, 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: The entrace to the Punk-Club SO36 in Berlin-Kreuzberg, which for a while was run by the artist Martin Kippenberger. Bowie and Iggy Pop attended the opening in Summer 1978 and have been there several times.

Joachim Seinfeld, The Window, 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: This was the control room of the Hansa Studio. Today the visitor looks at the brick wall of a new building at Potsdamer Platz. If you took a look out of this window at Bowie's time in Berlin, you could see the Wall – which was just 20 meters behind the Hansa Studio – with a watchtower of the border guards of the former GDR. Around was a kind of "desert" with only some rabbits as population. It was through this window that Bowie discovered the lovers at the Wall about who he sings in his famous song 'Heroes'.

Joachim Seinfeld, Café Neues Ufer, 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: The gay-Café Neues Ufer (at Bowie's time Anderes Ufer) at Hauptstrasse 157 was Bowie's and Iggy's "breakfast-room". One night somebody smashed the shopwindow. Bowie, who just arrived at home that night, kept guard until the next morning until a glasser came and paid the new glass front.

K. H. Hödicke, UFO – Himmel über Schöneberg (Sky above Schöneberg) 1974 Painted photography 65 x 50 cm

Joachim Seinfeld, Hauptstrasse 155, Bowie's and Iggy's Backyard, 2013, C-Print / Baryt 21 x 29,5 cm Note: See the painted photo of K. H. Hödicke… Hödicke's work UFO – The Sky above Schöneberg was created in 1974, two years before Bowie's arrival in Berlin

Condé Nast adds one more title to Anna Wintour

Thirty minutes ago i road a new from the New York Times,63 years old Anna Wintour gains a new title-artistic director of Condé Nast ,the company announced on Wednesday. This year is the 25th year for Anna as a chief editor of  vogue since 1988,and last year she has been the subject of persistent rumors about a possible ambassadorship in the Obama administration. Also the Initiator of ativity "fashion night out".An elective trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. And like father like daughter, Anna is the most powerful woman in publishing industry.Anna` duties almost involve the entire fields of publishing so i think one more title for her is not really a big deal. The move will up and  we will see it.
