Christina Binkley
Reporter, The Wall Street Journal.
Christina Binkley is The Wall Street Journal's fashion and style columnist, a frequent on-air commentator, and author of the New York Times bestseller Winner Takes All. From the vantage of her weekly column in the paper's Personal Journal section, she critiques fashion runways from New York to Milan and Paris, and takes readers behind fashion's velvet curtains, with frequent forays into the arts and entertainment. She contributes to the Journal's weekend, Review and Off Duty sections, as well as to WSJ. Magazine.
A graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Binkley hasn't always covered fashion, and certainly never expected to. On the Journal's staff since 1994, she covered real estate, travel, hotels and gambling. This led to her book, an inside view of the battle to control Las Vegas by the city's titans, Steve Wynn and Kirk Kerkorian, and a Harvard economist named Gary Loveman. An accidental opportunity to test drive a Ferrari led to her current job covering fashion, proving that just saying "yes" is an apt career strategy.
While most people expect Binkley to be based in New York or Paris, in fact, she prefers to live in the hills of Los Angeles with her husband and two children, with a dead-on view of the Hollywood sign. That's where you'll find her when she's not on a plane, or waiting for a fashion show to get started already.
